The days have gotten shorter and cooler (sigh) and that means back-to-school season is here. And while it’s always bittersweet adjusting from end of summer fun to back-to-school — let’s not forget to keep the environment in mind while back-to-school shopping. These tips make it easier and a bit greener.
- Lose The Brown Paper Bag! Invest in a cute, reusable canvas lunch bag and eliminate nearly 50 pounds of waste over the course of the school year. Check out the Rubbermaid® LunchBlox
- Sack the Disposable Storage Bags. From sandwiches to blueberries to crackers and cookies, and many other foods (okay, not mayonnaise), try a reusable snack bag or container. Imagine the waste you'll prevent. https://www.blueavocado.com
- Two Words: Klean Kanteen®! Disposable juice boxes and plastic bottles are among the sturdiest and most wasteful kinds of food packaging. Eliminate ‘em with a reusable stainless steel or BPA-free bottle that you fill with your child's drink of choice. Check out Klean Kanteen®… http://www.kleankanteen.com
- Recycle School Supplies. While you’re in the middle of a back-to-school shopping frenzy, it's easy to forget about perfectly good leftover school supplies. Save some cash by checking for usable binders, paper, pencils and scissors at home, then buy only necessities.
